    It depends.

20 tastings? A tasting is usually a 2 to 3 ounce pour. So 20 is 40 to 60 ounces of wine. A bottle is usually around 25 ounces (750 mL). So you are talking about somewhere around 2 bottles of wine depending on how generous the pour is. I buy what I consider middle of the road wine which is around $12 to $25 a bottle. Assuming this winery is offering the same thing, depending on the price of the wine you could be getting as much as $50 in wine alone.

The glass? Whatever. It's chump change to them and unless you are particularly excited about getting the glass, which your question didn't make it sound like you were, we can just consider this icing on the cake but it shouldn't make or break your decision.

The ride is where things get nice. I just told you that you can be expecting well over a bottle and possibly as much as 2 bottles and some change in wine. Driving afterward is not a good idea. Getting a sober driver to take you there and back should be on the to-do list and I really respect this winery for offering it.

You should look into taxi and uber prices in the area and add that to the $30 to $50 of wine that you can expect to receive. You probably won't come up to $70, but you'll come within $20. That 20 bucks is for the "experience" which is worth what it's worth to you.

For a nice winery with tasty wine, I would pay that and a second ticket for my girlfriend. But we are into those sort of things. We'd probably also get a second glass of wine and a couple of bottles to take home. Google the winery and look up reviews. If people are raving about how good the wine is and how nice the scenery, bar area, service, and overall winery is then you should jump on it. It's worth the experience.

I love wine & also wine tasting. But $70 per person is a LOT imo. There are so many places that hold events. Try not to spend so much, and just enjoy the time instead. And basically HAVE FUN!

Depends on the wine. For $70 I could buy a b*tchin bottle of Brunello... It'd need to be a pretty well-run tasting for it to be worth it.

  • It depends on what you're drinking. If you're pouring rare vintage wines or hard-to-find bottles, then it's probably reasonable. If you're pouring 10 dollar plonk, then it's a total rip-off.

It would be worth it to some people, and not worth it to other people. I don't know how someone can decide for another person.

That is entirely up to the taster and the taster's view of the value of the wines being tasted.

Generally no, but it might be if it's a charity event for a good cause

Some wineries have free wine-tasting, so this amount I find mystifying.

It depends what wines are being tasted.

  • Sounds like fun, I'm in.
