Pokémon Go cheating?

Can someone explain why people are trying to cheat the GPS on Pokémon Go? Walking is a part of the gameplay, so why play a game if you don't like the gameplay? Physical disabilities, I could understand limiting your mobility, but I don't understand why anxiety around strangers is a fair reason to cheat. One: you don't have to talk to anyone. Two: it's not other people's fault that you have it, so it's not fair to give yourself an advantage over someone who doesn't. I have anxiety around people too, so I don't go to public areas, or I play while in the car (not while driving), so I don't see any need to cheat. There is nothing to be proud of if you cheat. Can anyone help me understand this?
