Christians: Do you think global warming is the fulfillment of Rev. 16:8-9?

No. Rev 16:8-9 happens during the Great Tribulation (a seven year future period when God pours out his wrath

on those who will not believe John 3:16-19).

John 3:16-19

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Rev.16:17—What is “the air” upon which the seventh bowl is poured out? “The air” symbolizes satanic thinking, “the spirit [mental inclination] that now operates in the sons of disobedience.” This poisonous air is breathed by Satan’s entire wicked system of things.—Eph. 2:2.

Rev.16:13-16. “Unclean inspired expressions” symbolize demonic propaganda intended to ensure that the kings of the earth are not swayed by the pouring out of the seven bowls of God’s anger but instead are maneuvered into opposition to Jehovah.—Matt. 24:42, 44.

Rev.16:21. As the end of this world nears, the proclamation of Jehovah’s judgments against Satan’s wicked system may involve unusually heavy verbal expressions of God’s judgments, likely pictured by congealed water. Still, most of mankind will continue to blaspheme God.

Global Warming is baloney. We have had ice ages and heat in waves ever since the Global Flood took away the firmament.

No, not exactly. But I remember a part of Revelation about how a third of the drinkable water will turn bitter and toxic. That's really happening because of global warming and pollution

Granted, the literal heat/radiation from the sun could harm us if we didn´t have our magnetosphere, and some layers in our atmosphere, which protect us from harmful radiation (highly charged particles).

However, the book of Revelation was written in signs or symbols. In line with that, the "sun" spoken about in Re 16:8-9 doesn´t refer to our nearest star whose heat we also depend on for survival. In fact, in many instances the sun is used, in the Bible, to represent Rulers such as God, and Jesus. Ps 84:11 states that God is “a sun and a shield,” in that He´s the Source of light, life, and energy. Jesus as “the sun of righteousness” brings spiritual healing which, in turn, brings refreshment and joy to the recipients of his "shining." That joy is compared to their "skipp(ing) about like fattened calves.” (Re 1:16; Malachi 4:2) At the time of the end, anointed Christians are compared to "stars to time indefinite, even forever. . . . And the true knowledge will become abundant.” ( Da 12:3) Through Jesus and the future rulers in his Kingdom, God brings spiritual healing, joy and refreshment to mankind.

On the other hand, the fourth bowl of God´s anger reveals that the "sun" of this world ruled by Satan and his demons has become excessively hot. Since mankind in general, knowingly or not, put their trust in human governments and human rulers instead of looking to God´s Kingdom for support, God let them become the recipients of the scorching "heat" that originates from these "sunlike" human rulers.

Because of the policies adopted by these rulers, and their trust in this world´s political system and respective institutions, mankind suffers oppression, distress, anguish and despair. In some countries, "dictators have become directly responsible for the death of tens of millions, including their own nationals." * In some others, corruption, lawlessness, unrighteousness and wickedness of every kind is the rule of the day.

Is´t the world, today, "bathing in scorching heat"? What is happening, right now, in the US, Turkey, EU, Middle East, South America, Africa, Asia (China, North Korea) etc is enough to show that.

Consequently, by rejecting God´s Kingdom in the hands of Jesus, most of mankind signal to God that they prefer to be the recipients of the oppressive scorching "heat" from the torrid "sun" of human rulership.
