Whats a good cheap chest protector for sword sparing?
So i have a few of those polypropylene cold steel swords (and I don't plan to get any of those really expensive synthetic ones any time soon) and because those things can do some big damage and im tired of wearing two coats to protect me whats something that would offer good chest protection at a cheap price, would recommend 35$ or less, was thinking maybe something like this http://www.themartialartsstore.com/product/TC-10-7...
ok maybe sparing is the wrong word, I meant more so just fun sword fighting with friends, and yes i realize the cold steel plastic swords are dangerous but I like the thrill of having some danger, the idea that a heavy object is flying at me and i either must dodge or block because it could hurt if i dont but at the same time i dont want to be in large danger and I live in the boondocks and am not near any hema places, so please just answer the question about the chest protector

Ahh another self taught person
Get an instructor. And there is a good reason why you don't spar with those swords. You use shinia or a wooden sword

I think you are fighting an uphill battle with that weapon. That thing is just not made for sparring(I mean have you seen what the cold steel guys do with them in their promo vids?!). Use it for drills and the like, but get another weapon for sparring. See if you can find a foam weapon or see if a shinai will work for training your weapon of choice instead.
