Why will no one hire me?

I'm currently looking for a part-time job to cope with living on my own as a university student. But can't seem to get anything.

I've edited my CV like a million times and even got help from professionals...but nothing.

Lol what gets me is, some of my friends literally just put:

". Confident worker"

". Punctual"

On their profile (this is LEGIT all they put, nothing more, no experience..just that)... and get like 6 interviews....... WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!

Yet when I try my best and make sure I fit the expectations they're looking for... all I receive back is:

"We've received your application, unfortunately you have not been successful".................................

I know looking for a job is hard and I don't expect jobs to be handed to be on a plate. But this is just getting ridiculous now lol.

Have you tried a temporary employment agency or your school's career guidance office? Your school should have an employment office where they send students and graduates to alumni employers. Second to that would be taking odd temporary jobs through a temp agency. I had a lot of crazy temp jobs like being a proof-reader for in-house advertising for an airline miles program - they were the ones who wrote and designed all the brochures - I had to sit in an office all day for 8 hours a day to wait for 5 minutes of actual work and got paid $15 an hour for it, and this was back in the day when $15 an hour was great pay! Try going to a temp agency and be willing to take on crazy assignments, even if it is photocopying. I know many of the companies I worked for wanted to hire me full-time because they saw me and how I worked. Give it a shot and good luck to you.

If you meet ALL the expectations of a position then does that mean you are perfect in every way for every position you apply for.

It is very rare to get a part-time member of staff to meet all expectations within the position. So maybe you are overlooked as a, 'just saying what they think I want to hear'.

Cut your C.V explanation down and be precise and to the point. From the angle of 'willing' too do, 'quick learner' etc... Even emphasis that it would be for the years you are a student. These will all make you more real and personal.

Wishing you much luck in your search and studies.

I get the impression this is your first job so, you don't need a resume. Maybe hiring managers are taking note that you don't understand the hiring process and passing you over. Maybe what you've written on your CV is worse than your friends writing the blather they did.

What type of jobs are you applying for? Are you expecting your employer to arrange their needs around your preferences and school schedule?

Do what your friends did. Maybe that will help. Otherwise, your availability is probably preventing you from getting a job.

Perhaps take a leaf out of your friend's book and write "Confident worker" ". Punctual"

it depends a lot on the job, and the manager
