Am I allowed to open up a bank account within weeks away from turning 18?

I turn 18 on august 19 however, I will be attending college two days after that. I know I will need a debit card so that my parents can send me money and so that I won't have to worry about people stealing my cash. I won't have any time that weekend to go open up an account because I will be packing and buying things for my dorm. Do you think the banks will allow me to open one up?

The banks will open up a non-custodial account since you aren't an adult.

Your parents could have opened a custodial account for you when you were one day old. They can do the same now.

Or you can wait until you are at school and open a an account near campus. Your parents can still deposit money for you into the account.

You can do it the day after you turn 18; you are now a legal adult.

Yes if you take a parent with you to open it.
