Why do people only focus on the Lincoln and Kennedy assassinations, but not on the Garfield and McKinley assassinations?
I understand that Lincoln and Kennedy were "more important" presidents, but I don't ever recall the Garfield or McKinley assassinations being mentioned in history class.

It is assumed, and generally believed, that Lincoln and Kennedy were assassinated because of their political principles, with which some people did not agree.
Garfield was assassinated by Charles J. Guiteau, apparently because the President did not appreciate Guiteau's "superlative qualifications" and would not appoint him as US Ambassador to Paris. It was a personal grievance.
McKinley was assassinated by the Polish anarchist Leon Czolgosz who believed that all national leaders should be eliminated; not just the President of USA.
His actions were not aimed at causing or preventing McKinley's policies: just killing the President - any President.
History teachers have been led to consider Lincoln and Kennedy above the other two and the standard curriculum presents them this way.

They study both, but more attention is paid to Lincoln and Kennedy because the chances of the more recent 2 STILL having an impact are greater, unless you are Obama who said white people need to feel the pain of the blacks, like we never have.
