What is the best home solution to kill a tree stump? There is no surrounding foliage. Thanks in advance for any help! :- )?

Plain old salt will kill any plant and doesn't harm anything else around.

I have had friends family and neighbors swear by this method: Drill holes into the stump with a 1/4" drill bit. Pour used motor oil into the holes and let it sit. This plan is NOT good for the ecology and it can poison ground water, which is why I don't do it. It also takes forever.

Lowe's carries a stump killer that you can pour over it in the same fashion.

My plan - I rent or hire a person with a stump grinder - grind the stump to a few inches below the grass level. Then cover the thing with sod, or soil or whatever...

Depends how old the stump is....I usually cut level with the ground with a chainsaw, and cover the remains with thick black plastic, or anything to keep the light from allowing it to grow again...after a few years the remains will have rotted away.... Digging out the stump is a much harder but quicker way ....

If a dead tree stump. Drill some holes in it. Pour a hot water & honey solution on it. In a month the ants will have ate it.

I have killed many tree stumps by driving 16 penny nails into it & place Eptson salt into the holes week

This is what a tree surgeon told us after he cut a tree down that was leaning toward our house.

Make cuts across the top of the stump and pour salt in them.

Salt kills weeds and plants.

Tree stump rot chemical will do it or you can soak it in motor oil for a few days mixed with gas and burn it

I would cut a hole in the top and fill it with salt.
