Can someone ease my nerves? Please?
On September 9th, I'm going to fly to visit my aunt in Reno from Phoenix. But I'm scared that something bad is going to happen (Crash, bombing, kidnapping).
P.S. I'm flying with Southwest

The chances are infinitesimal that something will happen. Just go on the trip with the attitude that you're going to enjoy the flight - after all, no matter how many times I fly, it never ceases to amaze me how gigantic airplanes get off the ground - yet they do get off the ground thousands of times every day. Also, remember that these things are built to take a beating. A plane can be really buffeted by gusty winds and, although it may be uncomfortable to be in the plane, the plane itself will just bounce around in the air and continue on it merry way. They just don't get knocked out of the air. Learn to enjoy that sense of awe regarding these incredible machines. Also, you might want to tell your doctor about your anxiety, most likely you'll get a prescription for something very mild that will help calm you down.

Something bad can happen every day. Don't live your life worrying about it, or you'll miss out on all of the fun.

You have a FAR bigger risk of being hit by a car when you are leaving the parking lot. Look both ways, and do not worry about FLYING. Safest transportation on the planet. And thanks to our STRICT government regulations 9 see? - regulations can be GOOD!!) we check our planes among the top safe countries in the world. Have a great flight.
