After-Interview Question -- How do I address thank you note when interviewer used first name?

I had interview the other day and he referred to himself by using first name. When I address than you note, do I use first name or last name?

    Because they used their first name, I would address it using both their first and last names. So instead of Mr. Smith, use Mr. John Smith instead.

    The company interviewed you because they want to find the best staff they can get. They did not interview you to do you a favor. You have nothing to thank you for. You did them a favour by applying for the job. They should thank you for considering working for their company.

    I would address it to Mr. X to err on the side of respect. I think it's better to be a bit too formal than to risk being too casual.

    They are not your friend, use their last name.

    call the business and ask for the spelling of his/her last name
