There are four different versions of Minecraft, all were created by Mojang, which is owned by Microsoft.

Regular Minecraft, aka Minecraft, is the most advanced of the versions, with the most new content patches. It's graphics aren't as good as the Windows 10 version, but a hefty computer with the right mods can easily fix this. This version has a huge number of mods, and more being released regularly. Note that skins are completely free in this version.

Windows 10 Minecraft, aka Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, is the first new version to be released since Windows bought out Mojang. Anyone who buys the PC version of Minecraft gets MW10 for free (but not the other way around!). MW10 splits the difference between Minecraft and Minecraft Pocket, being based on Minecraft Pocket with a few additional features, including being natively VR ready.

Pocket, aka Minecraft: Pocket Edition, was designed for tablets and smartphones. It is far less advanced than base Minecraft, with fewer features. It is also not updated as regularly as base Minecraft. There is mod support for this game, but it is even more unofficial than regular Minecraft, due to the extensive anti-tampering found on most tablets/smart phones. Pocket edition skins must be purchased.

Counsel editions (one of Xbox360, XboxOne, PS3, and PS4) are very similar to Pocket Edition, though most have a patch or two more features. There is no mod support for these games (and in the PS4/PS3 versions, never will be) and skins must be purchased.

It's exactly the same game. Microsoft owns Mojang.
