Where to buy a regular bow for hunting?

I'm 14 and I live in Michigan. I want to go hunting but I would like to go with a regular bow with only 1 string. I don't want one of those ones with all the strings and gears and gadgets. Why would I be able to get one? What are the called?

It's called a recurve bow or a long bow.

I'm not too familiar with the sporting goods stores up in Michigan but check Sports Authority, Academy Sports, Gander Mountain, Cabella's or just search for local hunting and archery stores.

Either a recurve or a longbow...I got my Samick Red Stag II on clearance from Lancaster Archery for less than 100 dollars. They have great resources at their website on draw length calculation and draw weight. You'll need at least 40 lbs in most states to deer hunt...some states more. Mine is a 30lbs 28inch draw for small game. I would definitely recommend a Samick Stag model as a first bow...the Sage line is excellent also.

A compound bow only has one string. Not sure what you're asking.

You want a recurve bow. Get them at any archery shop - check Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop. Keep in mind that most recurves are not legal for hunting certain game.

Most any archery store or sporting goods store can get you what you want.

Either a long bow or a recurve.

So, you want a long bow and not a compound bow?

There are laws that tell you the minimum bow draw allowed for hunting. You might want to rethink your decision.
