Voicemail left about after references were called?
I received a call before while I was away from phone to a job that I applied to. They said they called my references and wanted me to give them a call back.
I dont know how to take that - is it good thing, bad thing, or maybe they found out something that I didnt know about?
On a side note, I was planning on calling back, so its not like Im asking to see if I should ditch call.

Some jobs can't hire until after they called your references and cleared everything. They're either saying "I called your references" as, now it's time to move to the next step, or they have something to discuss with you. There is no way to tell unless you call them back, but I would say don't worry about it. It's probably the former, and they're just relaying that they've cleared your references, and now it's time to take the next step.

They will never discuss what your references provided in confidence. You provided the references, and it is expected that they will properly vouch for you. If you failed to contact them, yo let them know you're looking for work, and request their support, if needed, that is your problem.
They want to schedule the next phase of their hiring process. Call them back, without delay.
