What is it with you people that help kids cheat on their homework, on this site, without any form of recompense?

I can understand explaining a math problem; but, essentially, writing an essay for them is beyond ludicrous. Public schools are already failing these kids, why add to it?

To be honest, Megan, I have considered this on a number of occasions when I have assisted and I have to say I agree with you to an extent. What annoys me a little, though, is that these kids could actually look the darned things up for themselves as there are plenty of good resources online. I sometimes give them the link I have used to give them the answer.

    lol?

Although I was pretty good and have a degree I am a little rusty.

Tonight I helped a whole group in a music class write a protest song for a school project!??

    lol?

I feel that so many kids, 9-17, may not have the help they need at home. Either their parents are working two jobs or mom and dad don't speak the language enough to help their kids. Whatever the reasons may be, I don't think it is awful to lend support by giving ideas to the student. When I give suggestions, I leave the bulk of the assignment up to the student asking for help. Some kids just need a little push to get them going.

I think I always give them the answers because I could actually relate, or if that were me, I wish I had some answers too. There's just certain topics where I have no tolerance for, and I just try my best to get through the year without too much stress. When I get the answers, I'll remember them for future exams. The thing about cheating is that you get your good grade, and you move on, so what's the harm? I've written essays for kids in school, and it's always been a win-win situation. I got the practice for the AP Lit exam, and they got a good grade.

Ik one friend who always looked up the answers during high school. But after she looked them up, she would try to understand the problem, then she would know how to answer similar questions. She became valedictorian when she graduated.. so idk how the school was "failing" her?

How does this affect you anyway?

There are 7 types of intelligence, and as a retired professional from education, as well as a mother of 7 and grandmother of 6, I can tell you that not everyone learns the same way. Sometimes they need to feel it, see it or just have it explained differently.

This is not only a research site, but a teaching tool and support as well. Not every student is fortunate enough to have multiple resources including family, available to help them with their studies.

Most people help guide the student to be able to complete their assignment

It's not cheating; it's called "sharing information". School is supposed to prepare you for the real world. In the real world, people pool their knowledge to create medical and technological solutions. How could this happen if everyone was encouraged to selfishly hoard knowledge instead of sharing it? My compensation for sharing information is knowing that I'm possibly helping someone become a scientist, an engineer, or an inventor.

Man I'm in my last year of school and let me tell you none this **** gonn matter in 10 years. Am simply asking these very kind people to write me an essay bc it ain't gon goddamn matter in a week! Junior cert, leaving cert, gcses, xmas exams, summer exams there all useless! I'm telling you! If we all just think about it we'll see that it doesn't affect any of our lives directly whatsoever so let's stop treating the education system like the holy grail because it is right far from it

The only way I will even think about doing a student's homework for them is if they are paying me. When I was in school I didn't even like doing my own coursework and I sure as heck am not doing someone else's coursework for them unless I'm getting paid to do it; and I won't do it for peanuts either.

i don't see the problem? If they're asking the question on here and get a detailed response that helps them learn it? i enjoy spending my free time answering questions on here in the history section because i like it. One party is getting the answer in a detailed form and i am more than happy to help out only looking for that best answer star.

According to the comments you are leaving, Megan, you clearly asked this question because you have a bone to pick. I insist that you take your salty self off of the internet and allow people to research and learn whichever way they enjoy most. Their failing in school/life does not matter to you unless you truly care, which you do not, as seen by the one-sided, negative comments you enjoy spewing out.
