In the search for evidence of advanced life in outer space are we relying too much on looking for radio transmissions..?

light can also be used for transmission.

    The only LIGHT that can be successfully used for data transmission are LASERS, and THOSE are very very tightly focused.

    So if they were NOT aimed directly at earth, the we would NEVER find them or see them.

    Even if SETI is pointless it is the most desirable way to test many hypotheses advanced by Astronomers.

    Radio in such research (& pursuit) has advantages over the other parts of the Spectrum.

    Doesn't work particularly well over very long distances, neither does radio for that matter, probably all using quantum entanglement anyway.

    We? I suspect most astronomers regard SETI as pointless.
