Guns should be illegal?

I am a liberal and I do not support banning guns. Most liberals don't. We want common sense gun laws. There is a difference.

I think bringing up this subject gets us in trouble because we want to make this point by arguing against conservatives who want make stupid arguments like "more guns make us safer." No. No they do not. When more people have guns, more people get killed by guns. If 90% of the people stopped driving cars we would have fewer car accidents. Thats commom sense.

Or as many have stated "criminals don't follow laws." Duh. But when you decrease access to guns, less criminals have them because that's how supply and demand works. The cost to buy a gun on the black market in places where guns are illegal is $10,000. So obviously less criminals own them.

The only logical arguments for gun ownership are

"owning a gun makes me feel safer"

or

"I like guns, they're fun to shoot."

That's it.

Look at _facts_ rather than propaganda:-

Guns were made illegal in the UK decades ago.

Overall crime then rose, drastically.

(As crimes-per-1000-population, it's still twice that of the USA).

Gun crime is now ten times higher than when guns were illegal.

The reason is simply that bans/laws do not affect criminals, who routinely ignore laws. They only affect law-abiding people.

So you want only those who obtain guns Illegally to have them? You would just throw out the 2nd amendment?

Making guns illegal does not prevent criminals from getting guns. It simply emboldens criminals because they would then have less concern that those who they commit crimes against would defend themselves.

No. We are a constitutional republic. The Constitution gives citizens the RIGHT to own and bear arms. Period!

Sorry, no...I am an American who is a fool for the Constitution.
