Why do people get addicted to smoking?

I can understand why people get addicted to drugs like cocaine, speed and heroin. Those are drugs that make you feel good. But nicotine doesn't even make you feel any different, so why do people smoke it?

There is no direct link that something "makes people feel good" will make things addictive. It's because those drugs are physically addictive. Mdma makes people feel good but it is NOT physically addictive.

The nicotine works the same way, it's because it has physically addictive properties that makes the most physically crave the cigarette

Actually you are wrong. Nicotine is highly addictive. Those who smoke cannot easily give it up because they get irritable, have migraines, and other withdrawal symptoms. And those who smoke feel better, more at ease when they smoke.

Even if it doesn't have a noticeable effect for certain people, nicotine does have the ability to create a real chemical dependence (viz addiction), simply because of how it interacts with the body's chemistry.

For the people that smoke, it does seem to have an addicting aspect and they claim they "crave" it the same was a heroin addict would, so it has come addictive qualities, just not as much.

It is addictive. I can remember going to the local Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday last year with some mates from high school. There was about 3,000 people there and a few people were smoking near us during the service so some us who are smokers also smoked during the service. So even for a 1 hour service we ourselves had 2 cigarettes each during that 1 hour. That's without what the adults near us had.
