Is it true when you sign to a major label, they want you to make hits, and if not you have to pay them back?

I doubt it, if you weren't making money, how would you pay them back. When a major label signs you, that is the risk they take.

It's far more likely you will get minimum wage, plus a small percentage of the profits on anything of yours they sell, after anything they consider "expenses".
