Should I go for this job if it is offered to me?

I sent an email with attachements to apply for a job in Rangsit, Thailand as an ESL/EFL teacher at a local school.

I sent the email to apply back in June, and the head of the English department asked me to go in for an in-person interview, on June 20th. But I could not do it because I am not in Thailand, I am in South Korea and I had to stay for work. So all I did was tell him that I am available for November and I gave him my Skype ID.

Then 4 months later, I got an email from this sae person telling me that the position is available for November. I agreed to do a Skype interview with him. However there is one issue. I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in February, I was prescribed chemotherapy and I finished all 6 cylcles of chemotherapy by mid-September. Then the doctor told me that I have Lymhpoma t-cells where the tumor used to be and concluded that I need to get more treatment, particularly radiotherapy and an intense chemotherapy.

My contract in Korean ends on Oct. 31st, and I will head to Thailand on Nov. 1st. (I may just be there for 2 weeks before I should go back to Canada). My question is, once I do this interview on Skype, if he offeres me the job, should I take this offer or not?

It sounds like you must face your health issues and stay near your current doctors. The care at Bumrungrad Hospital in BKK is world class, but how will you pay?

I say, take the Skype interview for the practice and see if there is a possible future job if any offered.

Honestly, this does not sound like the best circumstances for you.

  • No, you should go back to Canada and take care of your health first. There will always be jobs here in Thailand. Health care here is second class compare to what you will get in Canada. Use your head and not your heart.

Is it a real school? How much will they pay you?

Will it come with health insurance? The hospitals covered by the insurance?

In Thailand the quality of care varies from hospital to hospital.

I worked in Thailand for afew years and loved it.

That's entirely up to you. Why do you expect strangers who don't know you to make life decisions for you?

No. Sounds like a scam .
