After going to court to gain full custody of my children and to stop child support...?

I got a letter from them that even when they stopped garnishing my checks they still was adding up the months I didn't pay which I don't have to since I went to court and got my children and a order to stop collecting child support from me. Anyways, I tried to call them and they will not provide me with any info at all and tells me that I have a Lawyer that is on their papers. I did when I went to court to gain full custody and end child support I said. Then they replied back saying that they can't say anything to me until I sign a paper to remove my lawyer from their paperwork in order to share details with me. Doesn't that seem kind of fishy? Why would they continue to try and collect even with a court order stating I no longer have to pay and they know I have my kids now. I just don't understand.

You misunderstand how it works. You were charged child support for each month that your ex had custody. The judge's order means that you no longer get charged child support each month, but the unpaid amounts from previous months are still owed.

You hired a lawyer. All legal matters go through your lawyer now. Does not sound fishy at all.

What I bet you they are referring to is any arrears you have. Child support stops from the point of the order going forward, but any back support you owe you still owe, and only can get out of that by having that debt forgiven by who ever you owe the money to (either the other parent or the county if the other parents was collect welfare), paying it off, or death.

*EDIT* - Reading some of the comments that contain important information you left out of your post, you need to talk to your lawyer. Your situation is a little too complicated to have the general public tell you what you should and should not do.

It appears you owe back child support (support you never paid to the other parent), and it is still in arrears. You will have to pay that.

The court order prevents any further payments, not current outstanding payments. Pay them off and they'll leave you alone.
