I have math homework asking for the derivative of a multivariable function and im not really sure how to find it?
It doesn't say directional derivative or partial derivative just the derivative. Its the ambiguity of this that has me confused; what derivative in particular do you think is being referred to?

I'd have to see the problem to be sure, but generally the derivative of a multivariable function is defined to be the vector of all the partial derivatives. (i.e. the gradient of f)
