Would you support your spouse having overseas work commitments? Why?

I've been seeing an increase in jobs having the pre-requisite of having to work overseas for certain periods of time during a year and probably have to respond to overseas meetings etc.

Duration would be about 2-4 weeks overseas, and about a month home.

Would you be supportive of this job of his/her?

Growing numbers of high-end jobs with international/multinational companies require international travel. Certain jobs/occupations - notoriously high-end & B2B sales - have commonly required travel. Their job & career comes with the person you marry. If you cannot handle absences due to work requirements, don't marry the person. Failure to support each other's dreams, aspirations, career goals, etc, is a marriage-killer.

Relationships are all about emotional support. Needy "clinging vines" lose their appeal very quickly. Relationship are inter-independent. You need a certain ability to function independently, and compromise on agreements to divvy up household & other responsibilities.

Surely that is what marriage is about?? Supporting each other.

Yes certainly - it broadens experience and presents new opportunities, and think of all those mini honeymoons when he/she gets back home.
