Why would we have physical bodies in heaven?

Why have physical bodies instead of being purely spirit? Why would God need to give us physical bodies? It doesn't mKw sense to me. We would then be trapped as well in a cage

We will have physical bodies, but it will not be like anything we have now.

Our resurrected bodies will be like Jesus, after he was resurrected. And you may recall that Jesus was able to do normal things, like eat food, and walk around, and talk, etc. And he was also able to do extra special things, like walk through walls. And you may recall the story about the road to Emmaus, when a couple of disciples were walking and talking about what had happened after the crucifixion and resurrection, and another guy joined them. (A stranger.) And when they reached their destination, they invited the stranger to join them for dinner. They sat down for dinner, and when the stranger said grace (prayed for their food), their eyes were opened, and they suddenly realized that the stranger was the resurrected Jesus. And then >>poof<< and suddenly Jesus disappeared. Pretty cool, huh?

So all we know for sure is that our bodies will be different. And maybe we can change our appearance, or do other extraordinary things with these new resurrected bodies.

Angels have bodies, but their bodies are invisible to us. And they can make themselves visible, and also take on physical forms. The bible speaks of "angels unawares" meaning angels can change their appearance to look just like anyone else, and we have probably been in the presence of these "angel unawares" without even knowing it.

I'm looking forward to it. I don't have all the details, but I know it will be great.

Because humans are not spirit beings, but physical. Those in the New Heaven/New Earth will have physical bodies, but those new bodies will be incorruptable and perfect.

we lose our "flesh" or physical bodies when we go to heaven and gain a new body that never gets thirsty and never feels pain.

On earth we have a purpose to serve which is to glorify and enjoy God and lead as many people to experience the good news of his love. and if we're trapped in a cage we wouldn't be able to have free will so we can freely choose to love him. God wants us to choose him and love him!

There will be nothing physical in Heaven. Our glorified bodies will be completely different from our imperfect physical bodies.

We wouldn't -- it's an imaginary place, and it doesn't exist.

It's like asking what the food tastes like at Hogwarts or at Santa's in the North Pole.

    Time to grow up, people!!

The Bible teaches that all those chosen by God to enter his home (heaven) will be spirits just as God and his Son Jesus Christ are. But I tell you this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God's Kingdom, nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 1Cornithians 15: 44,50

What doesn't make sense is believing that heaven exists at all. Or god.

Silly question - there's no such place as heaven. It's nothing more than a pleasant fantasy for children and adult dimwits.

You are absolutely correct; we don't. This is an unscriptural belief, just as the belief that Jesus himself was resurrected in the flesh. One simple verse confirms this:

1 Cor. 15:50 ~ "...flesh and blood cannot inherit God's Kingdom."

    These few will NOT.

(Revelation 14:1) Then I saw, and look! the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who have his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.
