Creationist are Protestant Fundamentalist who take the narrative of the Creation in Genesis chapter 1 in a literal meaning of seven days of 24 hours... But according the biblical context, they don't understand that the meaning of "day" in the Bible can have several significances (Genesis 14:1; 26:1... Bible).

Was all physical creation accomplished in just six days sometime within the past 6,000 to 10,000 years?

The facts disagree with such a conclusion: (1) Light from the Andromeda nebula can be seen on a clear night in the northern hemisphere. It takes about 2,000,000 years for that light to reach the earth, indicating that the universe must be at least millions of years old. (2) End products of radioactive decay in rocks in the earth testify that some rock formations have been undisturbed for billions of years.

Genesis 1:3-31 is not discussing the original creation of matter or of the heavenly bodies. It describes the preparation of the already existing earth for human habitation. This included creation of the basic kinds of vegetation, marine life, flying creatures, land animals, and the first human pair. All of this is said to have been done within a period of six “days.” However, the Hebrew word translated “day” has a variety of meanings, including ‘a long time; the time covering an extraordinary event.’ (Old Testament Word Studies, Grand Rapids, Mich.; 1978, W. Wilson, p. 109) The term used allows for the thought that each “day” could have been thousands of years in length.

Just for clarification "CHRISTIAN" does not equal " creationist " right ?

Just throwing out the thought , because I have not spoken to every CHRISTIAN . to what parts of the bible narrative and to what degree they take the stories .

I have heard some who say the god used "EVOLUTION" . , EVOLUTION does not deal with ORIGIN of LIFE , only change over time , so in basic terms ..

. If one ACCEPTS as true that a "god' Created LIFE / Man , your a CREATIONIST , the dictionary defines creationist as relating to the belief that the universe and living organism ORIGINATED from specific acts of divine creation ......... Most THEIST no matter what culture or time period or theistic religion present some form of a "god Concept " to Explain mans origin some form of a CREATION story ,be it a turtle or Chaos

. otherwise why would you be obligated to worship a god , because god represent an idea of some power over humans , either gods CONTROL the ENVIRONMENT or events or Created it

So If you Identify as a Christian , that reflects a Belief in a Jesus WHERE did you get the IDEA of a JESUS from ? The Bible Did a Jesus say there is a GOD ? Do you accept a Jesus died for SINS of the world Sin = Offended god

. Unless one disregards those portions of the scriptures and see a man and a teacher ,, How do you disregard the talk of heaven , and hell, I am not here to tel others what THEY BELIEVE , A Theist tells me what they believe and I ask Why

, so if your a Christian and do not believe in a Creator God and Jesus was an immaculate conception was not part of the Trinity , You may as well follow the teachings of BUDDHA or GANDHI , you just put Jesus in that catagory , of just a man you just formulated your own Doctrine

Most Christians believe the Creation account of Genesis. I do have questions on several points. The first one is about the length of the day. My bigger question is how old everything was that God created? Was Adam and Eve 13, 21, 100 or even several million years old? How old was the earth, the stars, the Universe and all that is in it? I'm just curious that way. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Any Christian worth his salt is a creationist. You cannot be a Christian and deny the Old Testament.

Any person who claims to be a Christian yet denies what the Bible says about God creating the heavens, this planet and all life upon it, is no Christian.

One thing worth mentioning though, is that the Bible does not say how long God took to create the heavens, this planet and all life upon it. The Hebrew word 'yom' which is translated into the English 'day' does not necessarily mean 24 Earth hours.

    One opinion on this is:

Being Christian means being a creationist.

Being a creationist does not have to mean Christian: (E.g. Muslim, Jew, theist in general,?)

Correct. Evolution is God's method of creation.

Correct. Creationists can be Christians, and there are Muslim creationists as well.

Not all creationists are Christian, and not all Christians are creationists.
