Can I study in the US but work online selling in Australia to have an income?
If I studied in America on a student visa (as an Australian citizen) I am not able to work in the USA, unless its on the school campus I think. However, because I am an Australian does that mean I could operate a business online in Australia and work that way?

Technically, you are not allowed to work FOR A US EMPLOYER as a student, since you will have to file for taxes otherwise. It is also a condition for your visa not to work, or look for work, without authorization. Even playing a one night gig at a bar is prohibited. However, if you have a little business that operates in Australia, might just be doable. in general, you must aleady have the funds to pay for your education, plus your room and board, in advanced. Contact the US embassy, just to be safe. I don't see any reason why they would deny you do work in your own country, even if you are abroad. don't forget about the tax man, I know the Australian government will take everything from you if you try to avoid paying.

Absolutely NOT! You are strictly prohibited from working. Do you realize that be being in the US, your Australian business income becomes subject to US income taxes? You are not working in the US, and that's final. In fact, you are not getting a student visa unless you prove you have the money in hand already.
