  • Stop motion isn't dying and why is everyone telling me I cant do it!?

Why is everyone telling me I cant do something because it seems next to impossible?

I honestly believe I can do what I want to do and make an amazing career out of it. Stop motion animation... everyone is saying ''everyone wants to do that, you're no different'' ''its a dying trade'' blah blah blah.

    1. I don't think its something everyone wants to do and not everyone can do it... I however love the attention to detail, the time spent on it and the art created.

    2. I know its not a sort after media... but it never really was. Small scale scenes are still built for blockbusters... I turned the tv on tonight and there is a movie I have never watched before... theres stop motion in it...

  • Is an associate degree enough of a ''degree'' to enter the usa on a working visa?

Is an associate degree enough to enter the USA when it doesn't seem to state you need a bachelor degree, it says degree or equivalent.

  • what is the equivalent to a bachelor degree?

What is the equivalent to a bachelor degree?

  • Do I need a degree for an O-1 visa in the USA?

So ive been asking some questions and not getting any real answers that are helpful (to me) I want to be a stop motion animator and have been working towards that for 2 years being self taught and I am currently filming 1 short film and I am planning (self funded/community funded) another short that I am going to enter in one of the largest film competitions. I plan to win, This will give me a international/national award to my name.

Its just the beginning, I am going to the UK soon and I plan on doing a course to update my skills with stop motion animators who run stop motion studios in the UK, such as Aardman. I do have the skills to get hired there and that's the plan. I don't and will never have a BA degree. My dream carrer is at Laika, on the silk road job site they state that an international candidate may apply and submit portfolio, It states that I need to make sure I qualify for a visa before hand though and lists ''O-1, TN, H-1B, etc.)'' Now doing my own research I do seem to qualify for the 0-1 visa if I am successful in gaining this award, and making the contacts that I am currently about to make. Is this correct?

I know ive asked a few times but I am not getting any answers, just people saying ''don't bother'' because its too difficult. I don't think its difficult and its my chosen career.

  • How to Australian Actors/Artists get access to the USA for work... if they have no ''formal'' qualifications?

How do actors, such as Australian actors, who have no BA degrees in the arts get work visas to the USA...

Does it work for all ''artists''

  • Will this success allow me to quality to work in the US?

Ok, So ive asked a few times and have had a lot of negative comments that are trying to be ''brutally honest'' but actually just sound like they have no dreams or ambitions. I totally understand that US visas are not that flexible but there has to be a way, even if its not that common. I want to and have always wanted to work in stop motion animation, My dream job is working at Laika as a Puppet/set fabricator. I don't have a BA degree and more than likely wont ever have one as there is no sufficient courses in my home country Australia. Instead, I am becoming as self taught as I can whilst doing short courses and I plan on doing a short course in the UK soon. My plan is to become the best in Australia (which isn't going to be hard because its not a big commodity here) I am currently working on a short film and plan on creating another short film after to enter into some film competitions. Say I win, I get some awards, My names start circulating and I land a job in the UK preferably at Aardman or 3mills studio (creators of Shaun the sheep, corpse bride, fantastic mr.fox) I become assistant of a department, hopefully 5 or so years later I become head of the department. Would this make me eligible for a Working visa in the USA then? non-immigrant or whatever.

(yes, yes... im sure youre all thinking ''as if that's going to happen'' but it is... it will..)

  • What USA working visas do I qualify for to get the job?

My dream job is in the US, its for LAIKA which is a stop motion animation studio - I want to be a puppet/prop/set fabricator.

I currently don't qualify for any of the USA Visas. The closest one I come to is obviously marrying a US citizen. Laika do take international employees if they qualify for any of the visas. What do I quality for? what is the E3 Visa, also what is the visa called when you have some success in the field?

  • Can I study in the US but work online selling in Australia to have an income?

If I studied in America on a student visa (as an Australian citizen) I am not able to work in the USA, unless its on the school campus I think. However, because I am an Australian does that mean I could operate a business online in Australia and work that way?

  • Why are people always trying to find someone?

why do some people need companionship more than others?

So for example, my sister is always dating someone, has a new boyfriend or sleeping with different men. I on the other hand have never had a boyfriend, never been on a date and never slept with anyone. I am 22 shes 24.

I have no desire to find someone, I am more focused on getting a career and focusing on my music and art. Shes just focused on... I don't know, it seems like finding someone to support her.

But I find this in a lot of other girls my age, they are always looking at boys, going on dates or fooling around with someone different which there is nothing wrong with and I know that if anything I am the minority but I just wonder why... it is human nature?

is it actually a goal in most peoples life?!

  • Should I change my last name to 'Navita'?

Navita is my middle name, I don't like my actual last name. its long, its hard for most people to pronounce. My First name is Lara. I want a career in film (writing and such) I honestly believe a name makes or breaks you, if people remember my name its more likely to be a good thing.

is 'Navita' a good last name?

is it unusual and would it make a catchy last name for someone looking to become an actor.

  • Do I act like I know nothing or tell her I know everything and exactly what I think of her?

My first job was a horrible one, I had a lot of problems with my manager, so did everyone else but I was because I was her 2ic it meant I had to deal with it the most and when I raised that we had an issue by making a meeting with her and the regional, it got worse and no one listened. I was transferred to another store (for no particular reason, they do that with managers and part timers in low profit stores) and my manager went to a different one (I also had the option to go to the same store with her, I said no.) Once I was transferred I had some other problems with the new manager, she didn't train me or even show me where anything was in the store and one day she confronted me with something that wasn't done and I tried to explain to her that it wasn't something I have done before/I needed help with and tried to tell her why but she started to talk down to me and told me I was giving her an attitude (which I really believe I wasn't, I was just getting frustrated because she wouldn't listen to my reasoning's) and threatened me with a non-compliance so basically I had a big emotional break down which had been building up for a while and told her I couldn't be there anymore, cried, told her I had to go home and quit the next day. So since then I found out my first manager was fired a few months after I left, I first heard it was because she filled paper work wrong then found out it was because her and the regional manager store $10k... (more in update)
