Are these good christmas gifts?

My friend is 6o years old and loves her poodles.

I am getting her a 2017 wall calender. Color pictures.

And another gift. One desk day to day calender of dog humor. Example of a cartoon drawing of dog running with a cat. The dog says can i follow you on twitter.

Are these good gifts instead of a gift card to whole foods? I felt uncomfortable putting a dollar amount on the gift cards even though she does not need the money.
