Why are there so many interpretations of what is written in the bible?
Why is something so important open to misunderstanding? Should it`s meaning be obvious even to the casual christian? Scholar or not?
If you misinterpret the teachings, and believe what you, incorrectly, interpret them to mean, are you doomed?

A - it is a complex work of literature, not a simple children's book
B - it is an ancient work of literature, with references to the ancient cultures that produced it
C - it is a compilation of more than 60 individual documents authored in three different ancient languages (none of which are still in regular use) over a period of **at the very least** 600 years and more likely 1,100 or more years.
For all of these reasons **and others**, interpreting the Bible *accurately* is a difficult challenge even for accredited experts...and certainly it is a difficult challenge for less-than-expert pastors and preachers and individuals!

God has warned there is an enemy in this world. satan twisted God's Word in his attempts to tempt Jesus to sin.
Some people are genuinely mistaken and have been taught by people they trust that something is in The Bible, but it is not. Some people have studied God's Word and can document in His Word what they are teaching. Some people are deliberately lying and trying to twist God's Word or confuse people.
The only way to know which is correct is to not take any person's word for it. Study for yourself directly in His Word, using tools such as a Strong's Concordance, (which takes each English word back to the original language word and definition), or Smith's Bible Dictionary that helps to differentiate when there are more than one person with the same name and gives the translated meanings of names, etc.
God knows your thoughts as you are thinking them. He knows if you are seeking truth and what your motivation is. He judges that.

All communication requires interpretation. Unfortunately, interpretation requires flawed humans with biases and agendas. In most cases of "misunderstanding", the problem is with the interpreter, not the text
Nevertheless I think your impression of the Bible being subject to "so many interpretations" is overstated. The Bible is written in human language for humans. Sincere people who are seeking to establish the original intent of the author usually come to the same conclusions on important issues of doctrine. You haven't provided examples of what you mean so it's difficult to specifically address your concerns.
Existence is complex and the Bible is the Word/Expression of the eternal Creator - so the Bible has to reflect both of those ideas. Christian salvation is about reconciliation to God - so the Bible has to be a living document; able to satiate the thirst for knowledge of both new Christians, and those who have read the Bible a thousand times. The Bible states that we are all a part of a larger "body" - so no one human knows it all, but each what we need to fulfill our individual, God-given destiny.
The Bible also encourages its adherents to think for themselves, to pursue knowledge and wisdom, to think about (i.e. "meditate on") why we believe what we do - so it is unsurprising that people coming from differing perspectives may arrive at differing conclusions on non-essential doctrines.
If one is sincere and unbiased in their search for God, then God will reveal His truth to them. None of the important issues of faith are hidden from sincere seekers.

It has been this way since the days of Adam, which is why there has always been a prophet on the earth to define the scriptures and even add to them.
If God hasn't changed, then there is a prophet on the earth right this very minute.
Or God lied about being unchanged, and therefore he doesn't exist.

The old testament had clearly stated laws, but christians have decided that they do not count. So they are left trying to invent laws from a place that doesn't have any.
