In Canada why is it that one has to be perfect in French but can murder the English language when entering into politics?

Update:

just wondering as this seems to be the case. anyone know?

Update 2:

Anonymous I would say that Harper's french was better than Chretien;s English, with Chretien not being able to pronounce the word development but rather spoke of de ve lop ment. but why do they insist that the person has to speak two languages after all there are many chinese, arabs, Scotch, Dutch, Irish, why dont they insist that eveyone one speaks all of these languages?

Update 3:

madame serviteur:

Oh, you are insulted, let me explain, my keyboard decided to change to the French version, so my punctuations, were like, where instead of a question mark, it would give the accent aigue. Thank goodness, the keyboard decided to change back to the English version. Does this make you feel better?

Update 4:

"To write something of an answer?" what kind of English is that

suppose to be. It sounds like Greek to me.

Because the French are full of themselves.

I was about to write something of an answer but considering your lack of command of the English language (*anyone knowS*, *French*, *Chinese*, *Arabs*, *don*'*t*, *holdS*, *aN English person*, *won*'*t* - without mentioning punctuation...) and overall lack of knowledge of Canadian politics (official bilingualism in Canada, position and importance of the Quebec province within the Canadian Confederation, etc.), I just gave up.

La pente est par trop à pic. Je vous encourage fortement à vous renseigner *par vous-même* sur la question canadienne. Quant à votre anglais, a little brush up wouldn't do any harm.

I think Chrétien debunks that. I've never heard anyone call Harper's French perfect. Actually I'm heard him frequently compared to Chrétien.

It's the other way around. A bunch of politicians don't know French.
