What is the gender of grilled cheese?

Could be either, I'm assuming that it doesn't have genitals (many grilled cheese sandwiches don't), but not to worry, there are other ways to verify, considering that we're talking about a grilled cheese sandwich, which likely contains noticeable amounts of fat, then you could check where most of that fat is stored. If it's more towards the bottom part then that's an indicator that you're most likely dealing with a female sandwich, if it's in the middle or higher then it's probably a male sandwich.

So think of some of the grilled cheese sandwiches that your character likes, does your character like when fat drips from the bottom of the sandwich? (If so then the character is definitely attracted to feminine females) What if the fat was on top and very little or none was at the bottom? (If the character likes those then the character is definitely attracted to masculine males). But even if your character doesn't like the very feminine or very masculine sandwiches, then the character can still have a preference. If however the character likes both very feminine and very masculine sandwiches then the character is bisexual.

It's cheese of your choosing, bread of your choosing, and butter or mayonnaise of your choosing. It's not a gender. It's a tasty sandwich you either buy at a restaurant or make homemade from scratch.

It may depend on the gender of which the cow or goat or other animals from which the cheese came from.

In the U.S. it has no gender. In France, everything has a gender, took it in high school. Don't really care, eating one now and liking it.

I would think just like people, they could be either. Maybe your character is attracted to male sandwiches (sourdough, pumpernickel, white) but not female ones (wheat, rye, etc.)

Its hard to tell at first. In time though you can tell by the color.
