Solid browning mucus in throat?
This winter my nose has been just the slightest bit runny. No problem, not unusual. It s not actually clogged ever, just a little runny every now and then. But this morning I had something unusual happen, I woke up and went into major coughing fits every time I laughed at something my son said until I finally coughed up what I thought would be normal phlegm. What I coughed up was solid, thick, and a tannish color. I kept coughing and gagging it up until I ended up puking. Yesterday I lost my voice multiple times while working (fast food restaurant I work the headset in drive through) because my throat felt weird and now I know why it did.
The thing is, I don t smoke anything. No cigarettes no weed nothing ever. What could be and why.

Have you seen a doctor? You should, to rule out something serious. However, my guess is the same for all occurrences like those that you describe. In winter, we run our heaters a lot. You don't say where you are, but if you live in the northern part of the US, you've been running it a lot more than the rest of us. Anyway, your air is much drier than at other times. Your runny nose could have some bleeding in it, not a lot, just the amount that happens when a mucus membrane dries out. During the night, you stop swallowing it, so it clumps together and forms things like what you describe. You also probably need to up your fluid intake.
The issues with your voice when you are awake are harder to explain, which is why I suggest seeing a doctor. You don't have to smoke to get lung cancer, but I would be more worried about cancer of the larynx or esophagus. It's probably not, but I would check it out.
