Replacing heating element in dryer?

This is not a box type element. This is the circular style element on the back of the drum. I bought a new element and stretched the inner and outer coil to the proper length. I bent back the locking tabs on the connectors and proceeded to feed the coil through the insulators. The insulators are "O" shaped. The diameter of the coil is greater than the diameter on the insulator. What should I do next?

You might be able to slightly stretch the coil lengthwise and that will reduce the diameter of the coil. Don't stretch it too far. Just stretch enough to get the coil through the insulator. If you need to, you can also push the coil back together after you have run the element through all of the insulators. I believe I had the same issue with the coil diameter being larger than the insulator when I fixed my brother's dryer many years ago.

Buy the CORRECT element for your dryer.
