Is it racist if I'm ashamed of being white?

It's just that everything white people have done recently... I'm a liberal and don't agree with what a lot of members of my race has been up to over the past few years.

Hey, first off I would like to open your question wider and ask you a question. Why are you ashamed of only Your race? Wouldn't you be ashamed of how humanity is?

Anyway I think it doesn't matter what race you are regardless of what you do, why would color of skin effect anything upon a persons judgment? What did white people supposedly do that was so bad?

Dude I would love to talk to you about what liberals are like cause I honestly don't understand your ideology at all! So I welcome you to a friendly discussion through email if you want it will be in the sources!

Luckily for you you are in charge of your actions and no one else's. This means you have nothing to be a shamed of(of course unless you did something to be ashamed of). As for the way other races treat/look at you, if they think lower of you for being white, they are the ones who are truly racist. If you don't have a reason feel ashamed and only racists look down to you you have no reason to think less of yourself. And it's considered racist no mater what the race is, meaning you can be racist against your own race.

Racism is a belief that all members of a race have qualities that make that race superior to inferior to another race,

Being "ashamed" of being white doesn't really fit that completely, but it doesn't make sense to be ashamed of the color of your skin because you share it with people who've done bad stuff. Using that logic ALL humans should feel shame because there are people of every single race who have committed crimes and atrocities.

You can only control what you do. What other people do is their choice - it's illogical to take on guilt for other people's crimes.

It's not really racist, but it's your inability to see anything positive in your race.

ashamed of being white meaning whites "have" a reason to be ashamed/inferior. Yes, it's internalised racism. What have whites done recently anyway? coz I don't see it.

    Not racist, just ignorant.

You see the extreme factions on all sides doing stupid things, and judge everyone in the race by them, which is shortsighted.
