Unlike most other Christian sects, Mormons have a living prophet and 12 apostles. Thus they have an open and expanding canon of scripture. Those of other faiths that are stuck with dubious interpretations of 2000 year-old scripture are jealous as they can be. That's why they insist it isn't "Christianity"; it isn't what they have been taught.

    1. We believe in God the Father; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Ghost.

    2. That men will be punished only for their own sins and not for Adam’s transgression.

    3. That through Christ’s Atonement, we can be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel.

    4. That faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion, confirmation, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost are all necessary for salvation.

    5. That leaders and teachers in the Church must be chosen and ordained by priesthood power.

    6. That Christ’s Church today is organized as it was when He first established it.

    7. In modern-day revelation and priesthood healing and blessing.

    8. That the Bible and Book of Mormon are both divinely revealed scripture.

    9. That God has communicated with and will continue to communicate with humankind.

    10. In the literal gathering of Israel and the restoration of the ten tribes, and that Zion will be built on the American continent when Christ reigns on the earth.

    11. In worshipping God according to our own dictates and allowing others to do likewise.

    12. In sustaining the laws and leaders of the land.

    13. In being “honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men.”

The Mormon church is based on a much different premise than other churches so it is difficult to compare details. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (nick named Mormons) claims to be the restored church of Jesus Christ to the gentiles. It is led by revelation to living apostles.

Mormons study the bible as well as other ancient and modern scriptures along with the words of living apostles.

Mormons believe that we are literally the spirit children of God, that earth life is patterned after the eternities, that family is the order of eternity, and that the purpose of this fallen earth life is to help us gain through experience and choices the attributes and joy of God.

Mormons believe that the work of salvation exists beyond the grave, that missionary work in the spirit world ensures that all will hear the gospel, and that hell is a temporary existence where the rebellious suffer sorrow for their sins until they can bow the knee to Christ and accept him. Only those who will never accept Christ, no matter what, are cast out with like minded folks (i.e. Satan).

Mormons make sacred covenants that by keeping, provide them with the gift of the Holy Ghost. Mormons believe that spiritual truth can only be known with certainty through personal revelation and that God works through spiritual power and gifts of the spirit. The purpose of covenants and the Holy Ghost is to lead us to all truth as we seek to follow Christ and to cleanse our hearts over time as we do. We can gain the mind of God.

The church has no paid ministry, and most adult members are called to service in some capacity. The church has over 80 thousand full time missionaries sent throughout the world and who pay their own way.

Mormons believe in faith (a trust in God that leads a person to follow him and repent of sins), repentance, prayer, spiritual gifts, service to others, getting an education, being self reliant, caring for the poor, being good neighbors, supporting good government, building strong families, service in the community, sacrifice of talents and possessions to the work of God, etc. A large percentage of males are eagle scouts.

there is a page in the lds scriptures which described 13 articles of faith

    http://classic.scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1

check this link out, and see some of the fundament beliefs.

we believe the bible is the word of God, but the not the complete and all existing truth of the word of God. after 30 years of belief , in LDS doctrine I came to know how to say it, we believe the bible is the word of God insofar as it is translated correctly, therefore is the bible is the word of God with errors, or with missing parts, it needs to be corrected so that people would stop disputing words and be united in the ONE true Faith Eph 4. the bible as the word of God is truth unto salvation, where it is taught correctly. but the bible is not Jesus, which lacks in the priesthood authority to ordain elders of which there are two restored priesthoods in this church by revelation and by the laying on of hands with direct pedigree to John the baptism and elias and with James Peter and JOHN with the keys of authority. otherwise we wouldn't have the book of Hebrews and ch. 7. the priesthood has always existed. and men have always been ordained, otherwise it is not of God.

there is also the doctrine of the trinity, having been indoctrinated by either the Methodist or Baptist articles of faith and some of every other denominations and sects. I believed all the doctrines that most people get taught in the different Christian sects. I believed in the trinity and I believed the bible was innerent, but like a protestant to the pope, the pope has no authority over the Baptist. and in the trinity, men could not discern which doctrine to be true, so THEY voted on it, and chose the trinity. but when joseph smith jr saw two personages and one of them was Jesus Christ, it was Jesus that said don't join any other church,... they are all "wrong".

Mormons aren't Christians. Their core beliefs are completely contradictory to Christianity.

They've basically added another holy book called The Book of Mormon. It was written by a renowned 19th century American con-artist named Joe Smith.

There once was a man named Joe,

    Many things he didn't know,

So he made up a story,

    About angels and glory,

And got folks to give him their doe.

    This perfectly sums up Mormonism.
