14 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 years agoAnti-theists, which is more important: that Christians are united in their belief or that Christians are free to form their own ideas?
I hear people criticizing Christianity for being so fractured, saying things like "If there was a God trying to communicate with us, there wouldn't be so much disagreement."
I also hear people criticizing Christians for being mindless sheep. "Indoctrinated" as children, etc. etc. You know the story.
So which is it? Is religion bad because everything thinks differently, or is it bad because everyone is the same?
Are people free to interpret the available information as they see fit, or are they just believing what their religious leaders tell them?
Also, which is more important? Would you rather that Christians "get their story straight" and all agree on the same things, or is it better that Christians individually weigh the evidence and form their own ideas? Assume it is impossible to have both (given the vast differences in experience and background among Christians).
(I know this is arguably a false dichotomy -- if you think it is, just go with it for the sake of the argument.)

8 AnswersOther - General Health Care4 years agoDoes Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 spoil Dragon Ball Super?
So I haven't watched any of Dragon Ball Super yet (I know, it's lame, but I'd just rather wait for the English Dub), but I want to get Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. I know there are elements of the Super timeline in the game.
Just curious -- will playing through Xenoverse 2 spoil the events of Dragon Ball Super?
2 AnswersComics & Animation4 years agoWhich is better: results-based morality or principle-based morality?
If you are torn between voting for someone who is despicable but is the lesser of two evils and voting for someone that you genuinely approve of but has no chance of winning the election, what do you do? Vote for a lesser evil as a result, or a genuine good, based on principle?
Christians, which do you personally think is better in the eyes of God, and why?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality4 years agoDoes the headset included with the Xbox One work automatically?
I bought my Xbox One over a year ago, but I've never used the headset. I'd like to break it out for a better multiplayer experience.
Do I need to do anything to set it up, or to make it work with any certain game? Or is it as simple as plugging it in?

2 AnswersPolls & Surveys5 years agoWho are today's heroes? The Gandhis, the MLKs, the Abraham Lincolns?
We tend to view history with rose-colored glasses a lot of the time. It's interesting to think how the history book will treat the 2010s.
Who do you think are the people that will be reflected on as the moral leaders and pioneers of our time?
4 AnswersCivic Participation5 years agoWhy is carrying a purse considered a feminine thing?
Obviously if it's pink and has flowers or lace or whatever on it it's obviously for a girl, but simply having a handbag to carry your stuff around instead of filling your pockets sounds like a really good idea. Why don't men use them too?

All perspectives welcome (political, religious, economic, etc.)
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoWhat do you think would be different in the world today if the Holocaust never happened?
This is obviously hypothetical. Say Hitler still did all of his Third Reich and WWII stuff, except he didn't target, experiment on, or exterminate Jews or any other kind of people other than military/political enemies. What kind of impacts would that alternate history have on our world today?
4 AnswersSociology5 years agoHow to save voicemails from an iPhone 4?
I really need to save some voicemails I have on my iPhone 4. The regular method IOS uses is simply exporting the messages in emails, etc., but that's a feature of newer updates that my older phone is not compatible with.
Does anyone know how I can get these voicemails off my phone? Help would be greatly greatly appreciated!
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans5 years agoTheists and Atheists, what do you think of the story, "Life of Pi"?
Specifically, what do you think of the theologic/philosophical messages the story implies?
If you could identify yourself in your answer as a theist (which religion?) or atheist, that would be helpful. I'm curious. Thanks!
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality5 years agoDo you think LGBT people and allies are still oppressed underdogs, or is the victim mentality being overused?
Background for this question is a conversation on a LGBT Facebook group. The group had identified a man who had made a request that offended a lesbian woman, and the group was unified in supporting the woman and bashing the man. I voiced concern about the one-sidedness I was seeing, and in doing so I described the man as an "underdog," and the woman quickly replied and insisted that "LGBT folks are the underdog. Always."
It seemed odd to me, since this was an overwhelmingly gay-friendly facebook group and a man was being soundly thrashed for a well-intentioned if inappropriate statement. Who would you say is the underdog in that situation?
