Why do people think they will go to heaven if they dont have Jesus?

They think they will go to heaven, honey, for any or all of several reasons.

1) They don't understand that they are sinners.

2) Jesus said that He Himself is the way, the truth & the life, & that no one comes to the Father but by Him (John 14:6). He meant it, but many people don't believe Him.

3) In spite of the clear, unequivocal Biblical teaching that we are saved by God's GRACE, given us for the sake of His Son's sacrifice on our behalf, people do persist in believing that they CAN save themselves. We humans are conditioned by sin & societal norms to expect to have to earn or pay for anything we get. It's very difficult, especially for us Americans 🙄 to BELIEVE that something might truly be a gift, to TRUST that there are no strings attached, to have FAITH that the Lord really does love all people.

As you said, we CAN'T save ourselves, not by our goodness, belonging to an organization or anything else. We must keep telling the Good News, that we don't have to earn salvation ⛪

They might of read 2 Kings 2:11 and thought if Elijah could go to Heaven without Jesus then maybe they can too.

Look at the terrible intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution by Christians towards others! No DECENT persons wants to spend a minute in such company let alone eternity!

You cannot even get on with each other! That is why Christianity has been split into over 39,500 different denominations, sects and cults setting Christian against Christian and Christians against everyone else!

Yes we have to have saving faith in Jesus to get to heaven. As Jesus said in John 3 You Must Believe in his name.

I think we can both agree

Heaven is as imaginary as Jesus.

It's because most people do not agree with our belief that Jesus saves.

And THAT is because most people are not Christians.

A lot of people are not expecting to go to heaven, as that is not what the Bible teaches.

The idea of spending an eternity worshiping a supreme being is absolutely repugnant to me. I'm glad that I'm going to no longer exist when I die.

Whether you believe in jesus or not, goodness is the only thing that will save you, no matter your religion. And the word for it isn't exactly "saved". But technically it is.
