I actually agree with that statement from Trump, though the UK has fulfilled it's obligation and continues to do so to this day. Other European nations fall well short of the 3% military spending they need to commit to annually. Dasuberding - the majority of the cost of trade deals is paid by America because America has the highest population and you should be looking at spend per capita, not per country. Furthermore, America rarely gives anything for nothing. Britain paid America back for decades for Lend Lease from WWII, and the interest we paid was considerable. We paid the final installment only a few years ago.

It's well documented how much other countries put in the pot compared to what they are suppose to put into the pot or their own military's. That many are not owning up to the obligations is not a secret, never has been.

Since the US is the largest of the "North Atlantic" countries it only makes sense that they pay more.

Yeah, I agree. It doesn't matter what the situation, organization, or trade deal is, the US always pays the majority of the cost.
