How does a Temp Agency function?

I am 19, 4th semester in College and I dislike my major. I want to work, like a career. I just feel as if I am stuck. Does a temp agency have requirements?

My uncle company hires from temp aganecies regularly. The advantage is you are a temp and if you have low performance the company can let your go no questions asked.

My son went with a temp agent. His frist couple of jobs were seasonal and he was let go. He got with a third company, Performed well at the job, and after 6 months the company was able to hire him as a permanent full time employee. They counted the time he already had worked so he was able to get benefits right away.

Temp agencies do not have requirments , but if you have no educational or work experience they can only hook you up with certain jobs. Part of your salary does not go to the temp agency as Peter posted.

Some companies use temp aganecies for all entry level positions.

    Many factories use temp aganecies

Some companies use them for seasonal workers only.

Some companies use them to fill an opening that is temporary vacant.

They work with all kinds of employees and employers.

There are temp engineers and accountants.

There are temp dishwashers and sweepers.

    Obviously the requirements would vary.

Temporary agencies have their own areas of expertise, you can probably find one that can get you some work.

They basically rip you off. Example, they send you to an employer, he pays them $20 an hour, they pay you $8 an hour.
