How to make/prepare for middle school track team tryout?

I'm 13, 8th grade, 5'9" and 130 lbs. I know that I am fast cause I play basketball, all my coaches and teammates have told me that. This is my first ever track team tryout but I'm confident I can make it. I plan on doing track events: 100m, 200m and high jump and hurtles, what can I do to prepare for those events(tryouts are in 2 months) and make sure I make it?

Thanks

Well, the fact that you are preparing so soon for this already shows your commitment which is a huge boost into appealing to your coach's coaching style and potentially making the team. Now although you should always take every chance you get seriously, you have to understand that with an athletic background like yours and a sense of determination that you show will most likely grant you a spot on that team. So just show up on tryout day and do what you do so well; run.

In all, over the years that i have had with track and working with coaches, i can tell you that what they truly want is a runner with the desire to improve and do their best, which is all that really matters...

PS: Since tryouts are still to come in two months time, this gives you the perfect opportunity to better your eating habits (lots of water, balanced intake, etc..) if you have not already.

Go out there and do great things, my friend!

BTW, do not be deceived by my profile picture because this is not my personal account.. lol.

Kid I am about to give you the greatest advice that you will ever hear when it comes to being fast... Body mechanics. Speed is not made artificially but naturally. Meaning that if you want to be even faster!!!! All you have to do is learn how to move your body in a way that makes you move faster... Ahhh. Some Master Shifu **** right?

Practice your starts for the 100 and 200. Look up some videos on it and practice your starts. They are probably the most important since if you are naturally fast then you don't need to worry as much about your running form right now.
