How to check your blindspots while driving?

I m a new driver and I know that you look over your shoulder but where do you actually look? On the right side don t you look out the rear passenger window? What do you do when changing lanes to the left? Also is it true you can adjust your mirrors to create no blind spot?

you are trying to look out the rear passenger window in a sedan, or the far right corner of the passenger window in a coupe...the "blind spot" area is where you can't see a vehicle that is beside you, but also almost behind you...hope that makes sense
