Why do I have a low sex drive after I've started taking anxiety medication?

I started taking Zoloft like 3 months ago and my sex drive has decreased dramatically. My boyfriend is wondering whats wrong and I know its a symptom of the medication but is there any way to help the issue? Anyone ever have a similar experience?

    It is due to the drug it is true. Now if you have any anxiety it can be sorted out by your will power, then there is no need of the drug and you can discontinue this, thus you can get your sex drive back.

    its because your boyfriend is super ugly.... if it was me, you'll actually have very high sex drive

    you are correct, it's a side effect, cuz you took a drug, they are not magic pills from God, it's made in a lab and all drugs have side effects.......go here and just read ;

    Prozac, Zolof, etc., all reduce sexual desire. You should do research to learn the side effects of the drug you are taking.

    You said you have a low sex drive, and you know it's a symptom of your medication. And your boyfriend is wondering what's wrong? did you tell him it's a side-effect of the zoloft? If not, he needs to know.

    Along with this you can still have sex.... even if you're not in the mood, just try it. You'll probably get into it after a few minutes. (I did).

    You can also ask the doctor if he can lower the dose and see if that helps, but it would be up to the two of you.

    As far as orgasms and some anti-depressants go, it might be a bit difficult to have one sometimes, other times no.

    If you and your boyfriend had a good sex life, there is no problem with having sex to see if it's pleasurable. We don't have to have huge, fireworks and all sorts of orgasms to have pleasant sexual experiences.

    Unfortunatly decreased sex drive is a symptom of taking zoloft. Talk to your Dr he may be able to help

    That's a common side effect of SSRIs.

    If it's not acceptable to you, then you should speak with the prescribing physician about alternatives or simply discontinuing altogether.

    That's what it does. You fix it by not taking the meds. Just the way it is.

    Pros vs. cons.
