how can I get files onto a pi zero with no usb hub??

new pi Zero running raspian, no hub (yet) as mine wouldn't recognise properly, so also no wifi. I want to be able to put files onto the sd card (media, programs etc). I have access to a windows pc, and a ubuntu pc (which is a new install, I don't know ubuntu or raspbian well). With my 20:20 hindsight I realise I should have bought the pi3 as everything would be much easier with the extra usb ports and wifi.

Update:

I've now found some software (Paragon ExtFS for Windows) which allows windows to access the pi files on the sd card (which was otherwise hidden to windows).

Spin up a copy of Linux (LIVE LINUX on CD, no install required). That will give you the compatibility to read/WRITE to the existing SD card. Once you format the card for pi (linux), microsux no longer, by default, can handle the data. There are software drivers out there that allows MS windows to read ext3 and other linux-like file systems. use them at your own risk.

Depending upon what filesystem you have on the Pi's SD card, you might not be able to do it in Windows.

In Ubuntu, plug in the SD card, and look for the file manager application. Open two copies of file manager. Navigate to the source folder in one copy and the destination folder in the other, then drag and drop. Since these are different drives, Ubuntu should copy the file(s) from the source to the destination.

When you have finished, use the unmount function in file manage to close the filesystem on the SD card (and on the source if that is a removable media), then you can move the SD card back to the Pi.

    I hope this helps.

Just buy a cheap SD card reader for your PC.
