How to reduce pencil marks?

I am studying to be an engineer and I have been studying a lot. Griping the pencil leaves these horrible marks and they hurt. Right under the nail of my ring finger is swollen a little bit and the crevice between my thumb and pointer finger is as well. I am not sure what to do. Any life hacks, cause I don't want to just put some tape on my hands or pencil.

You are NOT holding your pencil correctly! Weren't you taught how to hold a pencil/pen by kindergarten? You hold it between your thumb & middle finger, supported by your index finger, not your ring finger. And you grip too hard because you do not hold it properly!

Use your engineering instincts. Wear rubber gloves.
