What does it mean when someone says your parents must be proud?

But in a very insulting way that it might sound, and why would it matter to them if they make their parents proud or not?

Only you know the context, so we can only guess. If you're sure it's said as an insult, then either it's said sarcastically, as Bob suggests, and it refers to something disreputable that the person has done, or it's said to insult your parents for their poor taste, and their poor upbringing of you, when you have done something that the person disapproves of - such as making a lot of money in a questionable way, or being promoted in a dodgy company.

its suppose to be a insult like if someone asks u what 2+2 is and u answer 5 then some smart *** would say wow your parents must be really proud of you
