I've noticed whenever I eat breads or potato foods too fast, I get a tight feeling in my throat. Once I drink water it goes away?

I wouldn't call it an allergic reaction because my throat isn't actually swelling or closing, but it's an uncomfortable tightening feeling when I eat them too fast. I've noticed this particularly with things such as dinner rolls or french fries. Sometimes it's if I eat any food too fast. I stop this feeling by drinking water and I can feel the tightening feeling coming on and the water stops it. If I don't get water in time, the tightening feeling gets intense and once I can swallow the water, I get these hiccup-like reactions in my diaphragm. If I drink some more water it usually goes away soon after. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I have GERD if that helps. Thank you.

I had the same problem only I felt like I was choking on my food, I wasn't taking my tablets everyday was the problem, now I don't have that feeling anymore because of taking tablets daily, if you are on tablets and not taking them everyday that could be your problem aswell..

Do you get the same tight feeling if you eat it slowly? sounds like you just eat it too fast and swallowing too much air to cause the hiccups.
