Can the Democrats that truly understand that illegal immigrants are criminals and should be treated as such, and Republicans that truly?

Okay, while entering a country illegally is technically breaking the law, if said person then gets a legitimate job, pays taxes, etc., then I think that person should be allowed to legally apply for entry as a green card worker. Their crime didn't really hurt anyone, and it should be taken on a case by case basis. As for Republicans, yes, religion should be kept private. If you want a 'common sense' party, then try the Libertarians, who, in many ways, offer the best of both the major parties in their ideals.

Personally, I feel the Democrats know that illegal immigrants are breaking the law, but with the current situation being Republicans hold both sides of our bicameral congress, and the current mentality of about half of the united states is to let illegal aliens live in the United States with no repercussions, the Dems literally have no choice but to shift their platform to uphold what the voters want so that they can regain control of the Government. On the flip side Republicans controlling the Government means they can push their agenda to support whatever they deem is "common sense".

Sorry, but the people who are so invested in determining that 0.03% of America's population are "illegal" are highly unlikely to be those who want to keep religion in the home.
