So Lincoln was part of the Union Party which was a mix of Conservativism and Liberalism hence we cannot call him Democrat or Conservative?

But I'm pretty sure it was the Conservatives aka Whigs who owned most of the slaves and the Liberals of the Union Party preached Civil Rights and Liberalism.

    I think you forgot the Slim Pickens Party, that supported relocation of blacks to the Indian Territory.
