    Outside area = [ 34 ] [ 14 ] m²

    Outside area = 476 m²

    Area of grass = 30 x 10 m²

Area of grass = 300 m²

Area of sidewalk = 176 m²

The area of the grass PLUS sidewalk is

    34m x 14m = 476 m^2.

The area of the grass is 300 m^2.

Therefore the area of the sidewalk is 176 m^2.

    Another way:

You could think of the sidewalk as four pieces,

    two of them 2m x 12m and the other two 2m x 32m. Total = 2 x 2m x 44m = 176 m^2.
