Consider Hispaniola, an island that happens to contain two separate countries (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). In contrast, there is an island about 30 miles along the east coast of Florida, of which the northern part is named Orchid Island but the southern part is named North Hutchinson Island, while the island as a whole has NO name. Do people know of other cases where the names assigned to an island by legal authorities differ from one jurisdiction to another, but the island as a whole has no name at all?

Stuff that is older than a couple of hours but newer than a day has simply disappeared. Can this be a result of the Verizon purchase? Not paying maintainers now?

Consider a disk of unit radius centered at the origin in the xy-plane. The disk is now divided into sixteen parts by the coordinate axes and the four lines x = +/- a, y = +/- a. Can "a" be chosen in such a way that all 16 pieces have identical areas? Justify your answer (and if it's "yes," find "a").

In the Engineering section, none of the answers "In Voting" is newer than a week old, which seems to mean that they are no longer transferring answers to the "In Voting" status. That in turn could mean that maybe they've disabled "voting" altogether. I thought I might see some info on this by looking at recent questions in the "Yahoo!Answers" section, but I didn't see any (at least, not from this morning). Only some complaints about "% best answers" being suddenly altered -- I had that experience too, but it repaired itself eventually. Y!A seems to be infested with bugs these days.

I'd like to delete various email addresses etc from messages that I'm going to forward, but in the new Yahoo!Mail I seem to be unable to forward a message once I've changed it?

Also, I have to laugh when I try to "contact Customer Care" and all it'll do is send me to Yahoo!Answers ... not that I don't appreciate Yahoo!Answers, but it's a lame excuse for "Customer Care."
