motorcycles: I'm interested in 2002 Harley Dyna Low Rider at a dealer with 41,000 miles. Is this too many miles to consider buying?

How long could engine last if I took good care of it: changed the oil, didn't ride it hard etc. Thanks.

    just get it... low miles

I would never buy a used Harley. Did once. Regretted it. Granted, it was a Shovelhead. Just because it's from a dealer doesn't mean it's good. No warranty = no recourse.

It depends greatly on how those miles were put on it, and how well it was maintained.

Oh - and how much they are asking.

I've seen '02 bikes with a tenth of that mileage on Craig's List... I'd rather have this one. It has been ridden, not left in a garage for months at a time. It hasn't been ridden a lot, but it hasn't been left to dry rot either.

If it is at a motorcycle dealer, you should be fine. If it is a car dealer that took it on a trade, I'd want to have an actual motorcycle mechanic/Harley dealer look at it before I committed, but just the miles by themselves are not a bad thing.

The average mileage for a motor cycle is 2.000 per year But my Honda has over 153.000 on it so you should get a few more miles out of it ..After all every body makes spare parts for HARLEYS if you can turn a Wrench

    it should be OK

    Not really

Mileage alone it's not enough to tell how good is the state of conservation of a motorcycle.

If you're not sure about the bike, have a friend that understand a bit more of mechanics to tag along with you and have the bike checked.

I could help you ... but I think we're too far apart.

Low mileage. Most likely owned by a moron who put it on a trailer and took it to events like Sturgis. Only rode it a little on weekends when the weather was nice. If its at a dealership then its a safe buy. They dont take in bikes to flip if they are junk. Thats a Twin cam. Good motor. No worries basically. Ride her easy and dont abuse it and will easily do 100,000 miles before it needs a top end.

Always the wrong questions here. According to you it was never maintained at all, because you don't provide the maintenance history, which is much more important than the mileage. So, let's assume no maintenance, ever. Run, do not walk, away.
